Abigail grew up in the small town of Kelley, Iowa. In 2007, she left her quiet, close-knit community to attend college in Des Moines, Iowa, a city she viewed as a bustling metropolis. She majored in Theatre Directing and quickly discovered a talent for directing actors and an excitement for unearthing the comedic timing within scenes.        While developing her directing skills, she also found a passion for writing, which led to production and publication opportunities. After gaining experience through internships as a Stage Manager, Director, Props Master, and commissioned Playwright, Abigail decided to pursue an advanced degree in writing.

In 2019, she earned her Master of Fine Arts in Writing for Stage and Screen, with a focus on family drama, children's picture books, and theatrical reviews. Attending graduate school was the best decision she ever made.

Abigail was deeply engaged in the Omaha arts scene, regularly attending performances by Opera Omaha, Omaha Performing Arts, and several smaller theaters in the metro area.

A proud member of The Dramatists Guild of America, ACES: The Society for Editing, Freelancers Union, and the International Thespian Society, Abigail was the proud owner of  Ackley Editing Services, specializing in editing and proofreading works in the performing arts, children’s literature, and essays.

She currently teaches writing at a college in Wahpeton, North Dakota, and resides in West Fargo with her family. In her free time, she enjoys baking and exploring the deeper meanings of words, and the senses in her writing.
